In 1968 Franco was still alive. This was one of the reasons Barcelona's "Paris" came later. Michael Eaude will talk about the 1976 rising, within the context of Spanish and Catalan politics - bringing the story up to date with discussion of neighbourhood resistance to developers and the emergence of a huge anti-war and globalisation movement.
Michael Eaude lives in Barcelona. He is the author of Barcelona: the city that re-invented itself, a political, social and literary history of the city.
